He trails off, tapping a staccato rhythm against the can in his hands. THIS marks the first day he’s been HOME since Christmas and the DINNER that had been more NEGOTIATION than WILLING. Honestly, he still doesn’t know what Harvey - or Jim for that matter - thinks about his current state of affairs.
At least he’s not keeping it a secret any longer…
“Slade Wilson … pretty funny, right?”
The chuckle that follows is a touch nervous, tinged with UNEASE. He wanted it to go well, he really did - but he himself had been SO LATE and Slade himself is primarily UNWILLING to tell him what had happened, or what they’d spoken about.
Told him to ask Harvey.
Dick is more concerned about whether or not he APPROVES, really. Harvey’s opinion is important to him, and he wants his adoptive father to SUPPORT him in his relationship.
As INSANE as it might seem.
“ Yeah? ”
The mug of steaming caffeinated liquid is brought to his lips. He never MINDS Dick’s visits– Harvey QUITE enjoys them. Talking with his adopted son was NEVER a problem… Not until NOW it seemed. He’s WELL aware of that tone– that ONE inflection. He’s NERVOUS. Unnecessarily so.
“ That’s… not the word I would USE. He’s certainly… SOMETHING. ”
TO be quite FRANK, Harvey’s HAD his opinion on Slade : the MASTER, deadly ASSASSIN. It never QUITE set well with him. He THOUGHT the same about Slade Wilson as he did every OTHER criminal.
Until their RELATIONSHIP came to light.
And that made ALL the difference. It’s not WHO he envisioned Dick with– not by a long shot. It’s not WHO he wants Dick to be with. He KNOWS the path of villainy VERY well. And he knows the HURT that it brought Jim. Harvey wants his adopted son to be SPARED of the hurt Jim endured.
BUT– after talking to the assassin a couple of times ( some that his son MIGHT not even be aware of ), Harvey Gordon BEGAN to come around. IT might not be the PERFECT match ( in Harvey’s eyes, at least. NO ONE would be good enough for Dick ), but… at least for the foreseeable future, it’s who his son BELONGS with.
“ Well, we’ll go TOGETHER. ” TOGETHER. They do it ALL together, now. And Harvey wouldn’t HAVE it any other way. “NEITHER of us have a parent to walk us down the aisle, and NEITHER of us are a bride so. It works OUT that way. ”
He's a fan of the metallic hats, a fan of the streamers, fan of the glitter and the shine and the brilliant lights of the moment. More than that, he's a fan of the vibe. New and hopeful and ready to something better. He's still new to the household, still shy and uncertain about his place in this world - but this, all of this, somehow makes him feel a little better. He reaches out to grab his carer's hand. " Happy New Year, Mr. Harvey. "
Harvey isn’t MUCH of one to celebrate the bringing in of the New Year, but he was a FAN of bringing friends and FAMILY together. Any excuse to do so– even the new year, was enough. And besides, had Dick ever EXPERIENCED a real New Years party, anyways? Decorations were only a PART of the ambiance. If he was going to HOST a New Years get-together, by GOD, he was going to do it right.
Streamers and hats and glitter and all. One MIGHT confuse the downtown apartment for a Harlem plaza in the 1920′s. A few of the guests are TIPSY, but not the attorney. Generally, he’s only a SOCIAL drinker, due to his FATHER. And with the state of their NEW companion, sobriety is the ONLY option for him.
Dent’s gazing towards the PARTIES going on in the streets below when he FEELS his hand grabbed. It’s far TOO small to be Jim’s. A SOFT, kind grin spreads across his features as he KNEELS to the child’s height.
Mr. Harvey WINKS at him, and for some STRANGE reason, that makes him feel better. A SMILE threatens at the edge of his lips, even as he ducks his head to hide it, shuffling his feet on the carpet. What must that feel like on bare feet? Is he ALLOWED to take his shoes off? He doesn’t like SHOES, never used to wear them much back in the circus. They ANNOY him, he can’t feel the ground beneath his feet.
Still, talk of the ROOM has him looking up once more, forgetting how much he dislikes shoes in favor of just what Mr. Harvey is saying. He’s never had THIS much space to himself before, or a BATHROOM, or a CLOSET or even a DOOR that he can call his own. It’s … it’s all a little much, really.
It does excite him, though. He isn’t sure why there’s a soft aftertaste of GUILT to the sentiment, but he tries to focus on the good. Looks up at his benefactor with WIDE eyes.
“Paint the walls? We could do that?”
They used to paint the outside of their caravans; already Dick is thinking of BLUE birds frozen in flight upon that plain white wall. He wonders if Mr. Harvey is any good at painting.
Or maybe Mr. Jim is the artist of the family.
“This is … this is cool. I … thank you. Thank you, Mr. Harvey.” He swallows, looking around again. “I don’t think they would have let us paint walls if you’d given me to foster people. Would they?”
He’s TRYING his best to LIGHTEN the mood. It’s awkward ENOUGH for Harvey alone. He can’t imagine what must be going through Dick’s head. Is he talking about it all too fast? Does Dick even want to be here? Is he OKAY with having TWO adopted dads, rather than the normal? Still, he wants the boy to FEEL at home. Shoes or not. Harvey often went around in socks. Dick could do WHATEVER he wanted.
Harvey bought the apartment AFTER his father ( finally ) bit the dust. He invested the profit off his childhood home– as well as his grandfather’s into this sizable apartment in downtown Gotham. He wanted a place he could live in… forever. And in THINKING of the future, he made sure to have an extra room… just in CASE.
“ Yeah, definitely. Do you have any ideas? ”
He can almost see the gears working in the kid’s head. It’s NICE to see him focusing on something ELSE– rather than the blatant obvious situation. Harvey’s ARTISTIC skills leave much to be desired, but stencils could be bought. EASY fix.
“ You don’t have to THANK me, ” he smirks, following the boy’s eyes. He doesn’t HAVE to, but it’s nice to know Dick doesn’t HATE it here… yet. And then a soft LAUGH ensues. “ No, they wouldn’t have. ”
Sitting in that office, in the too hard chair with ringing phones and people that looked at him out of the corner of their eyes - this had seemed like a good idea. He didn’t WANT to go to an orphanage, didn’t want to go to a foster home with MORE people that looked at him out of the corner of their eyes.
Mr. Dent - Harvey - Mr. Harvey Dent had offered to take him home. To his home. Instead of those other places. Looked at him right in the eye when he said it. Like he wasn’t just some lost little boy, but someone who could UNDERSTAND what was happening to him.
With the exception of Detective Gordon, Mr. Harvey had been the nicest person he’d spoken with since it had happened, so it made sense that when the nice man said he would take care of him, that he agreed.
But now, stepping over the threshold into a HOME without wheels - he can’t help but second guess his decision. He trails behind Mr. Harvey, feeling an odd mixture of awe and fear at the wide open spaces with windows and furniture that had only one intended purpose.
He couldn’t walk five paces in his family’s old road train, cluttered with generations of memorabilia that meant something to everyone. Here, he can walk without having to be worried about bumping into anything.
It feels strange.
Stranger still when he’s shown his bedroom. An entire room. Just for him. All of it. He lingers in the doorway, fiddling with the hem of his shirt.
“S’nice. Pretty. You have a nice home.”
Polite. Be polite. Always be polite. His Da had taught him that.
He considers the bed that Mr. Harvey places his things on, his brow furrowing ever so slightly.
“Is that for me?”
He’s never had a proper bed before; there had only been one in their train-care and that had been shared by his parents. Dick had slept in a hammock, his own little place where he’d rock himself to sleep of a night. Now that, like everything else, has changed - leaving Dick with nothing left to do but adjust.
He’d thought about TAKING in the boy for a long time–EVEN longer before he mentioned the possibility to Jim. WHILE the detective knew the kid, what would he THINK about the idea of parenthood? Harvey was SKEPTICAL it was anything positive. HOWEVER, the idea of KEEPING it quiet gnawed away at him ; so much so that the confession PRACTICALLY exploded during dinner.
Dent KNEW that kids who ended up in the system were BETTER off on the streets. The HOUSES were abusive, the kids were mean, the parents were neglectful. Not that ANY of that sat right with Harvey, but at LEAST these kids were getting FED, an education AND a place to sleep. But somewhere WITHIN him, he wanted Dick to have better. He wanted the kid to HAVE a childhood with… possibly PLEASANT memories.
Switching from the circus life to a RELATIVELY normal one had to be SCARY. With all of the changes Dick’s had to see within the last few weeks, he could ONLY imagine that he was overwhelmed with it all– Harvey would be.
“ Thanks, ” he winks, a soft chuckle ESCAPING through his lips. “ It’s yours now, too. ”
He pauses, a SLIGHT state of confusion and… AWE settling on his features. Of course. Dick probably NEVER had a real bed, much less and entire room all to himself.
“ Yes, Dick. Yeah, this entire room is YOUR space. There’s also a bathroom, and a closet just through that door, ” he POINTS to the room at the back of the bedroom. “ That’s yours, too… IF you WANT, we can paint the walls, get a new bed, different dressers and stuff… If you want. ”
The door to the apartment SWINGS open. And suddenly Dent notices every flaw. There’s still dishes in the sink, a mug on the coffee table. How long has it been since he swept in here?
“ Your room’s going to be down the hallway to the right. ” he follows the boy through the living room, shouldering a backpack– they could take a tour later. First things first, Dick needed to see his room. It wasn’t much ; pretty PLAIN, as far as boys rooms went, but–
Perhaps he’s a little more nervous than he’s letting on.
Harvey never had a father. Well, not one that wasn’t abusive. His only guidance was someone who BEAT him if he came home two minutes late. Harvey’s father figure was the one RESPONSIBLE for the scars on his torso AND mind.
He HAD to admit, taking in Dick like this REHASHED a lot of memories Dent THOUGHT he repressed years ago. But did they REALLY matter? As the boy steps into his room, Dent swears that Dick is never going to have the childhood he did ; he’s going to have EVERYTHING Harvey only WISHED he had.
He sets down the few bags on the bed. “ What do you think so far? ”
He’s slouched in an old familiar seat, knees pressed firm to the front of the desk before him. Arms folded tight over his chest, his expression is one of incredulous amusement. He can’t quite believe what is happening, or WHY.
His school uniform is marked by a hard day at Gotham Academy, his shirt rumpled and his tie hanging loose about his neck. They’d NABBED him right outside of school, been where ALFRED should have been.
CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES.
“I mean, you KNOW Bruce. He’s not like that. I’m fine, nothing’s happening to me! Why are they trying to take me away from him?”
“ YES, I know. And I ONLY heard about it a few minutes before YOU did. ”
He’s MADLY dialing numbers on the telephone ONLY to find a BUSY line. Hang up. Dial. Busy. Repeat. He’s not EXACTLY shocked that CPS decided to take a look at Bruce Wayne –- given his lifestyle. But all that could be EASED. Harvey had some pull AND a personal relationship with Dick, Alfred and Bruce.
Dent didn’t DOUBT that Dick was taken care of. The officials would SEE that after they chatted with Bruce and the ADOPTED son. What REALLY concerned him is how they WENT behind Harvey’s back to pick up the kid.
“ I know, I KNOW. I’m working on it, and I REALLY wish I knew, Dick. But for RIGHT NOW, you have to comply. Just ANSWER their questions and after a few days of INVESTIGATIONS, you’ll be able to RETURN to the manor. ”
He can’t tell if he’s happy or sad to see Mr. Dent again. It has nothing to do with the man himself, he’s been nothing but nice to him through this entire thing, but there’s no fooling with the fact that he met him BECAUSE of what happened to his parents.
He’s glad to see a familiar face, but he’s also reminded that he now lives with a word branded across his soul.
O R P H A N.
“Yeah. I mean … “
He glances over his shoulder at the ball being kicked between the others, feeling the weight of recalcitrance settle heavy in his chest.
“I wasn’t really doing anything, anyway.”
So, instead, he turns his focus full to the lawyer that listens, tilting his head to the right.
“What did you want to talk about?”
Dent understand how CONFLICTING seeing him again must be. Being as, the last time they met, Harvey was putting him into a foster home. All far away from the previous life he’d started to grow up. Hell, he wouldn’t even blame the kid if he didn’t WANT to see him again. Harvey would understand. & he was JUST a kid. Dick lost his parents too soon. Harvey wouldn’t get OFFENDED if he reminded him of ALL those unpleasant memories.
A hand card through his dark hair, following the kid’s glance over to the other children. At least maybe he was making some–
Apparently not. No child wanted to have their game interrupted by a BORING lawyer when all their FRIENDS were around. Maybe if he just gave Dick a little more time…
❛ Yeah, I just wanted to check in with you, ❜ Harvey gives the foster parents a THIN smile, signaling that it was OKAY for the two of them to be alone. ❛ To see how you’re doing here? If you like it? If you’re being treated well… all that stuff. & now, I know it’s not like you’re old home. But we talked about that, remember? ❜
SELECTIVITY. This blog is private, meaning that I will only write with mutuals. As much as I’d love to write with everyone, I simply don’t have the time. This is nothing personal. This is simply for my own sanity and enjoyment.
PORTRAYAL. My Harvey Dent is PRIMARILY based on Fox's Gotham. My Harvey Dent has not met Bruce Wayne, Poison Ivy, Gilda Gold, or any of the other characters he's typically associated with-- aside from Jim Gordon.
NSFW/TRIGGERS. I WILL NOT TUNE DOWN HARVEY'S WOUNDS/MENTAL ILLNESS/ABUSE FOR YOUR SAKE. Dark themes, mature themes, and otherwise triggering content WILL be on this blog. I will try to remember to tag each trigger as I come upon it. However, if I’ve skipped one, don’t be afraid to let me know. The last thing I want is for you to have to see a trigger. As for me, I don’t have too many triggering things. I just ask that you tag your ’eye horror’ with literally anything, and we’ll be good to go. That shit freaks me out.
THREADS. My schedule is pretty crazy, and I rely pretty heavily on the queue. It’s the simplest way for me to have some sort of appearance on the dash without flooding it. I’m sorry if this offends anyone. I’m sure we can talk something out if it really riles you up that much. Also, do not bug me for a reply. I promise I am getting to your thread as soon as I have time/muse for it. BUT if it’s been 3-ish weeks and you’ve yet to get an answer, hit me up. Chances are, tumblr hasn’t notified me of it. Plotting is also more than welcome!!! However, not necessary for me to thread. I actually prefer off the cuff things for new interactions.
FORMAT/GRAPHICS. You don’t have to do anything fancy with your reply. I won’t judge you by your aesthetic, my friend. It’s the content that matters. All icons/promos were made BY me. Do not steal them. Please, if you need icons/promos that bad, my commissions ARE open.
ASKBOX/IM/MEMES. The ask is open to anyone. Please understand that anything NOT OOC will end up published. IM is designated for OOC chat alone. I will not be rping through that AT ALL. Memes are open to non-mutuals. And, yes. I am ALWAYS 100% down with turning memes into threads. You don’t even have to ask. Let’s just change it to a new text post?
SHIPPING. Romantic shipping is off the table period. My Harvey is in a relationship with THIS JIM GORDON. I'm here to also explore Harvey's other relationships, such as brotps, platonic, etc.
UNSPOKEN RP RULES. God-modding is a no-no. Forced shipping is a no-no. Anon hate is a no-no. We should seriously have these down by now, y'all.
AUS/CROSSOVERS/OCS. I live for all three of these things. I think OCs are super underappreciated and deserve more love. Crossovers can be super fun. If I know your fandom ( which, chances are I probs do ), I’m down for throwing Harv in your direction! AUs are also beautiful things. If you have an idea for an AU, don’t ever be afraid to hmu. I love them.
DUPLICATES. You like Harvey Dent. I like Harvey Dent. Let’s yell about our sons together? I’ll check your rules and make sure you’re fine with duplicates. If not, it’s cool. I don’t mind keeping my distance, either~ ALSO: I'm all for seeing Harvey in different lights. I like that discussion. HOWEVER, I am NOT cool with Harveys bashing other Harveys about the way they write him. Just becuase YOU are insecure does not mean you should bring the rest of us down.
FOLLOWS/UNFOLLOWS. I try to take a glance at everyone’s blog quickly. If I don’t end up following, it’s nothing personal, I might just not be able to see a way of our characters interacting. Unfollowing MAY happen if my dash gets too clogged and I start to feel uncomfortable with your content. Again, it’s nothing against YOU personally. It’s for my own fragile state of mind.
THE MUN. Thanks for checking these out. You’re a total trooper. I know how boring and redundant RP rules can get. But hey~ I’m Haley. I run a Tony Stark blog as well as a multi-muse... and I am TOTAL trash.

GOTHAM CITY VETERAN (based on Gotham s3)- After the purge, Harvey's goal is keeping the ressurected Jerome in Arkham. He's also assessing the damage done to the city, and taking the legal steps in order for the broken parts of Gotham to be rebuilt. On a larger scale, Harvey's the go-to for the situation in Gotham. He's working with the feds and the big-timers to set up laws and precendents that the world has never had to HAVE before. People don't just raise from the dead, right? But it's not a shock that Gotham is the place it begins.
LYNG IN WAIT (based on Gotham s2)- From endorsing Mayor Galavan all the way to throwing Strange behind bars, this verse takes up ALL of season two. He's JUST been elected DA and is determined to keep the title for as long as possible. Harvey doesn't hesistate fulfilling his promises to the people, one by one-- beginning with taking down the biggest mob boss in the city. Unlike canon, Harvey WAS in on Jim's escape from Blackgate. Due to his relationship with the detective, Harvey was in (and helped) on the plan to break Jim out. After Jim escaped, he helped in figuring out who framed him, and after Nygma was thrown into Arkham, he re-presented Jim's case to a jury. All charges were dropped. NOTE** Harvey was AWARE of Hugo Strange's location post-arrest. However, the DA didn't have any choice in the matter. The government began to use his research, and Dent was powerless ot that fact.
HEADS OR TAILS (based on Gotham s1)- A young, bright and shining ADA, Harvey has his eyes on the prize: the DA position. He's well-aware of his limited power under the corrupt attorney. Once he reaches that position, he'll FINALLY have the influence and power to start making real changes in the city he loves.
THE DEVIL WON (two-face verse)- Before the accident, he didn't have a name. Before the accident, Harvey's condition was seen as nothing more than a short temper. Before the accident, Harvey Dent was a whole, completed man. And then the ACCIDENT happen-- but it WASN'T really an accident, was it? NO, this ASSAULT had been in the works for months. Corosive acid was thrown onto his face, SPLITTING his features down the middle-- splitting his MIND down the middle
He spent a few weeks in the hospital, SINCERELY trying to get better. But with each PASSING day, his mind fractured farther and farther. The damage was DONE. Big Bad Harv was UNLEASHED without warning.
Harvey Dent is no MORE. What errupted from the accident is an unrecognizable shape of desctrution, death, and violence. Harvey slips away from the hospital-- from his ONE link to humanity, unable to cope with the CHANGE going on inside and out. A battle had been raging in the DA's mind since the FIRST time daddy's fists collided with his face... and it was a battle he lost.
The confused, murderous beast sought out the best fighters and criminals in the city. The faith for Gotham's redemption FELL upon his shoulders. While Harvey would ALWAYS long to seek out help and RETURN to normality, the bigger, STRONGER personality would always refuse. And so they slip further and further into Gotham's underworld, rising higher and higher in the ranks. He wants to be SOLUTION, but he's only the DESTRUCTION.
I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT(dc crossover)- Primarily based around the DCEU, Harvey is anti-uncontrolled Superman reign. While he believes Superman can and DOES do good things, who's to keep him from doing the bad? He doesn't think MUCH better about Batman. And DO NOT even get him started on Task Force X. The young DA has his hands full.
CROSSED OVER(marvel crossover)- Also based around the movies, virtually everything stays the same about Harvey. The difference is that in this verse, he collaborates with SHIELD and the government, generally working as the go-between for the two organizations.
TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN(westworld crossover)-
The legal authority position has been handed down time and time again. No one ever keeps the job, and they certainly don't last more than 5 years. Mistakes are unacceptable-- especially when it comes to the lives of the human clientele.
Now, it's Harvey's turn to take the stand. After building up his lawful reputation and interest in in the theme park, he's finally voted onto the board of executives-- the people who OVERSEE everything that's done in Westworld. While he holds no GRAND sum for the company, Harvey gets a hefty say in what does and DOESN'T happen in the park.
Unlike most of the other humans, Harvey actually DOES feel for the driods. BUT with his job at stake, he's hesitant to voice that.
MY 'PEOPLE SKILLS' ARE 'RUSTY(spn crossover)- Same background as all normal verses. Harv grew up in an abusive household-- where his father would force him to learn how to hunt demons and other supernatural creatures for personal profit. After graduating high school, he stepped away from hunting-- having grown a distaste for the poaching. He went into law school and came out a refined, new man. For a while, hunting was out of sight, out of mind. But even in in death, his father was ever-so-helpful. After being attacked by a horde of vampires, Harvey learned Christopher was a very wanted man in the unseen realm. So Harv left the law game to right his father's wrongs.
DON'T EVER LET THEM SEE THAT THEY GET TO YOU(zootopia crossover)-
Harvey species is a fox in this verse. The same background applies as any normal verses. Christopher was abusive to his son. Instead of beating him with a belt, his father would place a shock collar around his neck. Harvey grew up desiring more. After scraping through high school, the young fox went onto college to become an attorney. However, after some mishaps with his father's past, Dent was forced to return to the slums of Zootopia, picking up the slack to put his father in the hospital. But waiting tables doesn't fit the bill. Harvey began resorting to a life of conning to be able to keep his father's care. The fox's outer shell grew harder each day he spent doing the EXACT opposite of what he desired... Perhaps is the circumstances were different, Harvey WOULD return to school.
FOR THE PEOPLE(defense attorney dent au)-
Instead of becoming a District Attorney, Harvey turns to the more lucrative option. He hones his skills as a defense attorney for ANYONE, and everyone ; so long as the PRICE is right.
A NEW FACE FOR GOTHAM(mayor dent au)-
Upon hearing Cobblepot's entry for mayor, Harvey is determined to NOT let the people of Gotham stoop so LOW. He enters the campaign for mayor, and ends up wearing the title... and quite nicely. He doesn't wait to start following through with his promises and visions for the city.
THE DARK KNIGHT(dark!dent au)- Each fist against his cheek, each WORD that hit his chest like a brick, each NIGHT spent losing INNOCENCE something was growing within the young Harvey Dent. A darkness shrouded itself around the boy, wrapping him up in an abyss he never wanted to escape from. The darkness became his friend-- and thus, darkness he became.
Instead of pushing away this dark force, Harvey accepted it-- he WELCOMED it. The energy that WOULD be spend covering himself in light was spent in tandum with his moonlit friend. Harvey excelled in school. He found that he was HANDSOME, and with a little bit of work, he COULD be charming. Manipulation became a CRUEL game he enjoyed far too much.
To say he started out with good intentions would be a lie. The DA's office in Gotham was struggling. After college, the position pratically FELL in his lap. After a landside winning, Harvey began to work his way through Gotham's underworld. When under the shawl of "The White Knight", Harvey sought out the best of the best. He posed as an up-and-coming entrepenuer for the criminal activities.
After all, as the underworld soared, so would his positon on the justice side. Dent worked under the guise of 'Two-Face'-- a little on the nose, but the GCPD was so STUPID... well, all but a certain rookie detective.
Reeling him in wasn't as EASY as he expected, but still a GAME nonetheless. As soon as he HAD his way with Jim Gordon, he'd be RELEASED from the spell-- heartbreakingly, no doubt.
But as each night passed, it seemed LESS like a game and MORE like a relationship. Harvey had SHUT himself off from things as TRIVIAL as love and affection a LONG time ago, or so he liked to believe. But as he continued to learn more and MORE about the detective, the EASIER it was for Jim to pull those FORSAKEN feelings out of him.
However, secrets are impossible to keep forever. Jim's search into Dent's gang came to a boiling point. Harvey confessed his manipulation, his drug and alcohol use, as well as the gang. IT SHOULD'VE been the end. Jim should've left. At this point, Dent KNEW how much better the detective deserved... Yet he stayed, setting an ultimatum of NO more manipulation, no more drugs and no more lies. Realizing that he'd TRULY grown to love Jim Gordon, he agreed.
It was time for a fresh start all around. Harvey handed over the gang to his right hand (for a wealthy fee) and opened up a club in downtown Gotham.
& IF I GO TO HELL WILL YOU COME WITH ME(demon!dent au)-
Harvey and Jessica Dent were angels who fell from grace together. They, along with the third of the angels disbanded from their heavenly home to unite in the pits of the universe. Hell became home. However, as time went on, some of the demons realized how NICE the angels had it. Some wished to go BACK-- seek forgiveness. The idea alone was TREASON to demon-kind. Those who did express repentence for their betrayal were executed. Jessica was one of those. While Harvey wouldn't return to the heavenly realm, he would surely help his sister do whatever she desired. Rumor spread, and Jessica was taken in for questioning by the higher-ups. Only hours later, Jessica was executed. Harvey's punishment for association was watching her death. And as he begged for her life to be spared, NO one would help him; no one would help HER.
So Harvey abandoned his own kind. While he was FORCED to be around them on occasions, he began spending more and more time in the mortal world. While he's aquantinces with most of the demons (moreso, the newer, younger ones), he won't even give the older ones ( the ones THERE at the time of his sister's murder ) a second glance.
Harvey spends his centuries based around contracts. His powers include changing the fate of the creatures around him. He can see their future, as well as their possible outcomes, but not their pasts. And so, whenever someone summons him, his contracts run on time. He offers his life-altering services in return for a soul.
Two-Face also exists in this verse. However, he can materialize-- speak even. When Harvey loses his temper or deems it so, Two-Face pulls out of his body. To a level, he looks a little like an Enchantress version of Harvey. His movements aren't fluid, his eyes glow a dark red, and he's covered in a dark like shroud. (He's pretty AF).
Like all of the other demons, he can levitate, teleport, etc. His specialty fate power visualizes as a red mist. Whoever in that gets caught in the mist is also more susceptible to his powers.
STEPPING INTO THE LIGHT(high school au)- Young, popular and charming, Harvey is a student at GCH ( Gotham City High ). He's well-known by association-- while his friends may be at parties and getting high, Harvey's in the debate class. He's also on the baseball and track seasons when they roll around.
His favorite subjects are definetely government/econmics based classes, followed by History, and then English. He's an excellent student, WELL-AWARE of the fact that if he DOESN'T get any scholarships, he'll be stuck at home with his abusive father.
On the weekends and weeknights, Harvey picks up shifts waiting tables for local resturants. And when he turns 18, he also does some bartending on the side. He'll also do temporary or seasonal shifts, depending on the job. He worked for the DA's office (which is really when he realized how much he loved justice and the law), as well as some other part time errand-esque jobs on the side.
Even in this verse, Dent has a quick temper (from being subject to the abuse at home). Social workers are curious as to his home life-- some have even asked. However, despite the bruises and cuts, Harvey denies the claims. He's not even sure why. Perhaps it would change the way people treated him.
REDEPMTION FACTOR(reformed!harvey verse)- The accident changed everything. The weeks following mangled everything Harvey thought he was. Confused and OUT OF CONTROL, Dent escaped the hospital. Harvey-- now as Two-Face went rogue. He hung somewhere between MURDERER and NOTHING. Revenge on his assailants became their only UNDERSTANDABLE goal. Through the pain and CIRCUMSTANCE, Two-Face hunted down the very one who destroyed his face (himself WITH it).
But he was stopped ; stopped by the ONLY voice who knew how too ; stopped by the ONLY one Harvey would return for. Jim was able to coax Dent into returning back to the hospital with him. Only for him. Only for Jim Gordon did the disgraced attorney RESIST the one thing he'd been THIRSTING for, for weeks.
Around the clock therapists, doctors, and security was placed on Harvey to ensure his well-being. The surgeries to repair his face began, as did the daily therapies and the physical recouperation. And although the chaos within him LOATHED every minute of it-- he SCREAMED ad thrashed against the cage of Harvey's mind-- Harvey couldn't be more SURE of his choice to return.
After the reformation, physical touch was an impossible aspect. Doctors couldn't touch him, nurses, not even Jim could lay a hand on Harvey without getting a VIOLENT, terrified reaction out of him. And yet, still Jim stayed. Even has Harvey slipped into his own shell of depression and sorrow, Jim stayed. He promised to always stay.
It was unfair of him to keep the vigilante TRAPPED in the commotion of himself. He was prepared to let Jim go-- to ALLOW him the chance of a normal life. Yet he stayed, and he asked the MOST important question of Harvey's life.
'will you marry me?
And he abandoned all inhibitions. He said 'yes', despite his depression and his wounds and his crippling self-loathing. Jim wanted him... forever, and that's exactly what he'd get. Slowly, they eased back into the physical realm of the relationship. And as the wedding neared, the surgeries continued to heal the damage, and the Gordons were able to find some sort of normalcy.
As Jim went off to play vigilante during the night and detective during the day, Harvey began looking for jobs. Although he was allowed and WELCOMED back to the DA's office, it didn't FEEL right anymore. He wasn't making a big enough impact.
On the day of their wedding, an old friend and scout of his attended. And upon hearing that Harv was looking for a job, he offered Harv the full funds, full team to campaign to run for Attorney-General of New York. After the surgeries were finished, both Harvey and Jim decided it was time to go for it. So at this point, Harvey's been elected as the Attorney-General. He's based in Gotham and ONLY travels when completely nessecary.
CAN'T RAISE HELL WITH A SAINT(reformed!two-face verse)- This is a break off of the normal Two-Face verse, obviously.
Anyways, years pass as Harvey continues excelling through the underworld. Business booms, but it also fails. Who knew the gang business was so unreliable? Two-Face builds up his name, his influence, his power, his alcohol. All in hopes of forgetting his BIGGEST mistake.
Though Two-Fae is HAPPY with the life of crime, Harvey can't HELP but remember how he ABANDONDED Jim all those years ago. God, WHY was he so stupid? There isn't a day that goes by when he DOESN'T think of the ONLY man who still holds his fractured heart. However, the barriers between them are OBVIOUS. He's a criminal. Jim's a commissioner. Harvey looks like a disaster. Jim is... normal.
But those barriers are torn down. One kiss has his ideas torn at the seams. He discards his life of crime to be with the one he loves the most. Harvey hands his gang over to his right hand, and starts on the path of the (not quite) straight and (not quite) narrow. So long as Two-Face could continue playing by HIS rules... perhaps they could try the justice thing AGAIN.
He begins working as a double-agent for the GCPD. Using his fame on the streets, he's able to aquire top-secret information on the mobs throughout the city. However, good things always come to an end. A dirty cop finds out about Two-Face's affiliation with the GCPD and exposes it to the mobs. Not only is his life on the line, but his cover is also compromised.
Harvey finally puts it all out in the open, publicly returning to the side of angels. In payment for Harvey's services to the police, the government allows Two-Face to be pardoned of wrong doing. So that's where Harvey decides to stay. His skills gained over his time as a criminal make for him being an EXCELLENT investigator to Jim's disposal.
After some time, Harvey finally proposes to Jim-- vowing to never leave him again. Due to their high (infamous) status among the Gotham's worst, they host a secret wedding. And only a little after that, they buy an ACTUAL house together. Not an apartment. A house. It's not important to this verse, but it's important to Kai and I.
GOD'S GONNA SIT THIS ONE OUT(the judge verse)- While Two-Face believes he's getting cured of his criminal insanity, Harvey's actually (subconsciously) creating another personality as a DIRECT response to Two-Face.
The Judge is COLD, calculating, emotion-less and justice-driven. He works as a vigilante during the night, (quite like The Punisher tbh). He kills off criminals he deems worthy of that punishment, showing them no mercy.
He's so UNLIKE and far more extreme than the other personalities that not even Harvey realizes he IS this new vigilante called "The Judge". The Judge also doesn't realize he's tied to the other personalities. So much so, that he actually ends up trying to track down Two-Face.
Harvey only becomes aware of this personality thanks to Jim. The Judge and The Knight dual it out. Jim rips off his mask, only to find Harvey... who isn't Harvey.
Until they find some way to treat this subconcious response, Harvey HAS to get handcuffed any time Jim goes out for the night.
LIKE FATHER; LIKE SON(justice dad AU // closed with halysborn and emitsdeath)- Harvey and Jim took Dick Grayson in after his parents' tragic accident. Together, they raised a hero.
